TREASURER’S REPORT
Cheri handed out copies of the
treasurer’s report and answered all questions. Judy is working on the trip
account and will be reviewing all accounts to ensure that all totals are
correct. A question was asked if we have cross checked the missing band dues
with the trip payments. There are 5 students outstanding. Everyone agreed that
we must take a stand and say that you can not get on the bus to go on the trip
if your dues are not paid. A suggestion was made to send a letter home to those
5 students saying that they will not be able to go on the trip if the dues are
not paid. Sue will coordinate with Penny to work on getting this resolved as
quickly as possible. Judy asked if her contact information could be put on the
website for everyone to get their final totals and that dues must be paid. A
question was asked about extra money made at fundraising events once the
student’s trip has been paid for. This money would go to the trip itself. This
could be used for an extra lunch for everyone. A surplus is good to have for
tips, emergencies, etc.
4.
SUE - BAND TRIP
The band trip is still on. There are a total of 99 people going. The final payment will be due on March 2nd.
5.
SHERRI - SPIRITWEAR
Sherri submitted her report via email. Update on the letterman jackets – 13 were ordered so far. Two of the jackets needed repairs and they have been delivered, 2 were lost and been replaced and they were refunded $25.00 each. Also one had the patch sewn on upside down that one was fixed and also refunded $25.00. Everyone was satisfied. She doesn’t have the exact profit totals yet but it looks like approximately $400-500. Sherri explained that her inventory was pretty low. Sherri showed everyone a shirt that the Dazzlers were doing with rhinestones on it and asked if we were interested, everyone agreed that we are not interested in them. She also stated that the’09 patches are in for the seniors we have 45 total patches. Everyone thanked Sherri for a job well done.
6.
KIERA - UNIFORMS/CONCERT WEAR
The order for the concert dresses has been submitted and we should receive them in about 3 weeks. We need to finish up the sale of the old jackets. The last day will be February 20th. Mr. Malcolm will make an announcement in class and Clayton will put it out on facebook. Judy is still working on the pillows. We need to save some for area business
7.
JOHN - BENEFIT JAZZ CONCERT
John gave us an update on the benefit jazz concert. A lot of hard work has gone into this so far. The group has been meeting weekly to organize everything. It will be called Journey Thru Jazz. It will be held on March 31st at 7pm. There will be a full rehearsal on March 28th. We will have a program, Cd’s and DVD’s Terri has designed the logo for everything including the t-shirts. There will be 15 professional playing with the students. We will be pre-selling tickets and hope to sell out. There will be concession sales and hospitality rooms. The flyers & posters are at the printers as soon as we get them we want to put them everywhere. We are getting 300-500 flyers and 100 posters. We will be inviting VIP’s also. We will need of a lot of help from parents and students to help pull this off. We need to send out a mass email asking for help. Any input should be given to John so that he can bring it up at the next meeting. Everyone thanked John for everything he is doing on this very large event.
8. SONIA - PHOTO/VIDEO (submitted via email before the meeting)
Photo/video:
1. Lots of opportunities to photograph highly accomplished groups of Seminole
musicians – I’ve posted group photos of students at All-County Honors Band, and
the brass and clarinet choirs from Solo/Ensemble, plus the tuba and sax
quartets. This meant asking the band directors for the master schedule of all
the Seminole performances – thank you to Ms. Newhouse for providing me with two
sets of them.
I videotaped all the ensembles above and also videotaped the Jazz Chiefs on
Thurs night. I will be posting Jazz bands’ third selection on youtube soon.
Tomorrow morning the and directors will have all the video from FBA to review
and show the kids as a learning tool if they wish.
If I am
available to chaperone the S/E trip to State, I hope to video as much as I can
and post all the Superior recordings. Some people post very immature and
negative comments to the videos. By posting only the best performances I feel
that I am providing the individuals with a layer of protection from this
negativity. (Happily for me, my oboe-Lake Mary son will also be there that day!)
2. The DVD of
the Orchestra-Jazz concert is ready. I have go get labels printed, and then the
orders can be filled. I made 5 extra.
3. The
DVD of the Marching Festival at Hagerty will be delivered to SGTV this week,
with a signed letter from Mr. Malcolm. Two months ago they were still
broadcasting last year’s festival occasionally.
4. I still
intend to make a DVD of marching season, but there has not been any time
leftover.
Publicity:
For the next issue of Noles News, I submitted info about Journey Thru Jazz, the
band trip, Jazz Chief’s Superiors and all the concert dates I have so far.
Newsletter:
This month I
will be updating the issue for the incoming parents, and maybe create another
10-min DVD to show them before the meeting begins.

BANDQUET – TERRY (IN ABSENTIA)
It was decided last year to name it the Bandquet. Everything is going well with nothing really to update.
10.
DIVIDEND HOURS – CHERIE
All board members need to go to a terminal and enter all their hours. There are a lot of hours to be put in. The deadline is ASAP. There is a computer set up in the band room to input hours. Cherie asked that Mr. Malcolm find out the password so that the hours can be logged in without everyone’s social security numbers. An email will be sent out once the icon is on the band computer so it can be done in the band room
Hours can be entered at any school location. Anyone who is going on the band trip must be fingerprinted. The tax exempt from is ready to expire. We need to check with the Department of Revenue to see how we renew this. Also the address needs to be changed to the PO Box.
11.
NEW BUSINESS
Kathy – The athletics golf tour is May 16th. We are looking for a check from the concession for the payout on the fall games as well as the playoffs. We are happy with how they divided the payout, 109.04 & 138.54 per share. Just let Kathy know when the check is received.
Clayton – Suggested a skit night. Maybe this could coincide with the anniversary. If we are having this we need to set guidelines up at the beginning.
We need to commerate the anniversary in some way. A suggestion was made to do something on February 27th from 7-10pm and have a cake.
We want to send out an all
call for a handyman to help set up some displays for the gifts in the band room.
The next meeting will be on
March 10th at
Respectfully Submitted,
Michele Bozarth
Secretary
