Fundraising Makes a Good Band Great!
Did you know that band membership for 2011-2012 is expected to be somewhere around 240 students! Your Fundraising Committee is hard at work planning several exciting projects (golf tournament, 5K run and more) to keep up with the very real needs of an ever expanding Pride of the Tribe. It will require the efforts of our entire "band family" to insure that each of these musicians has music, instruments, uniforms, etc., and we encourage you to stay informed as our menu of fundraising opportunities takes shape to choose the ways that you could best serve. Projects such as these are an integral part of band life, and many hands make for light work!
What if Seminole High School Band Parent Association earned a donation every time you searched the Internet? Or how about if a percentage of every purchase you made online went to support our cause? Well, now it can!

(Top)There's a money machine sitting in our closet! Just a few months ago we were making as much as $75-$100 PER DAY with our Snow Cone machine and we'd love to get it up and going again, especially from now till the end of school. We would like to assemble a Snow Cone Team of just a handful of people who would be willing to volunteer a couple of hours each week to get this simple but HUGE money maker back in business. You would come to school approximately 45 min. to an hour prior to dismissal to grind up some ice and wheel the cart out to the spot where students have come to expect it and show up in droves for their favorite treat. Then, just a little wipe down, back into the closet, and she's ready for the next day's volunteer. Students have earned as much as $200, $400, even $700 for their Student Accounts, just by offering friends, family and neighbors this one of a kind cookbook that they can enjoy forever! Savoring Seminole is now available for just $10 (the first 1000 books sold like hotcakes at $16 each!) They make an excellent gift AND $4 profit per book will be credited to your Student/Trip Account.
So what is a Glamour Shot? It's a portrait of
your student (in uniform and with their instrument), superimposed in
front of the whole band. Glamour Shots is a fundraiser for the
BPA, but more than that, these portraits are treasures for students,
parents, grandparents and others. They are reasonably priced and
professionally printed.
Steps in getting your Glamour Shots:
Let Mr. Brendle know that that you are interested. Write to him at this email address: glamourshots@seminolehsband.org. To process every student would take many hours, so Mr. Brendle will only be processing students once he knows they have an interest, and posting them only after the Seniors receive their complimentary Glamour Shots during Senior Night. An indication of interest is NOT the same as an order, but it is a key step.
To view the Glamour Shots, go to the Dave Brendle Photography website - www.dbrendle.smugmug.com. Follow the instructions on this form to log in to this site. If your Glamour Shot isn't there, it probably hasn't been processed yet. Just e-mail Mr. Brendle again.
Fill out the form accurately and turn it in, along with your payment to the lock box in the band room. On-line payment through PayPal is available. Note that printed forms are located in the band room, and the PDF is here.
Allow 3 weeks for delivery. Glamour Shots are
delivered by default to the band room. Optional shipping to your
address is available at $5 per order.
Remember, Glamour Shots are a BPA fundraiser. Because of this, they
must be ordered through the Photo Committee, and funds must go
through the BPA. You cannot order directly from the Smugmug website.
Full Band Pictures now available
Instead of doing the FBA pictures this year, we took a number of pictures of the full band in the gym. The finished picture is very sharp compared to the FBA pictures of past years and everyone is recognizable. Some of you have seen the pictures in the band room.
There are 2 formats available for sale: Laminated photo card stock and professional photo prints suitable for framing. The laminated card stock prints are suitable for hanging just as they are or using as place mats. The laminate sizes are small 8 x 12 and large 12 x 18. Photo sizes will be 4 x 6, 8 x 12 and 12 x 18 and available in glossy or metallic.
To order your full band pictures, print this form and fill out accurately. Place in an envelope along with your payment and put in the lockbox in the band room. Cash, checks or PayPal available. Email Jennifer Polk at treasurer2@seminolehsband.org if you desire to pay by PayPal.
