Early June Calendar Information, Summer Instrument Check Out, Awards Night, Leadership Meeting, Basic Band Camp Information

Information for Summer Instruments
Students needing a school instrument to practice for the summer can pick them on the main campus Tuesday, June 9th and Thursday, June 11th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. There is no summer rental fee and the instruments are also available to our incoming 9th graders. If there are any questions pertaining summer instruments please email us at Seminolebandonline@gmail.com.

Mr. LaBonte had worked solo (no equipment staff) to do the inventory and preparations for summer check out. We all thank you Mr. LaBonte.

Awards Night
Mr. LaBonte and myself will be hosting a Webex Awards show on Tuesday, June 16th at 7:00pm. I know this doesn’t replace our band banquet but it is a way we can show our appreciation to you and celebrate all the hard work that went on this past year. The presentation will be recorded for those who can’t make it and put in our secure documents section on the band website. There will be a link posted on the band website 30 minutes before the show.

I wonder who will win the coveted Hopoewaw of the year award or the Bokey King and Queen.

New Leadership Meeting
There will be a 20-21 Band Leadership Meeting on Thursday, June 18 at 7:00pm. This will be a Webex meeting. I would encourage leadership to join us that night. We will be talking about upcoming events and preparations for the fall. There will be a link from the band website 30 minutes prior to the meeting. Please pass the word so we can start having everyone back on the same page.

Band Camp 2020
Until we get official notifications from the school board, our schedule will need to be somewhat flexible.

We do know that band camp operations will take place on the 9GC campus this year.

Plan A – Pre-camp training will begin the week of July 20th.
Pre-camp includes leadership camp, percussion camp, guard camp, Registration nights, and new members day.
Band Camp will take place July 27th through the 31st.
Times and dates can change so I’m just giving you broad strokes right now.

Plan B – If we can not have our traditional camp. We will set up two weekends for our fundamental training. August 14th and 15th and August 20th and 21st.
This would also depend on the Dr. Phillips Away game on the 20th

So soon we will post more details on Band Camp. Just waiting on official announcements from Dr. Griffin.
